Our take
This is unusually generous for a $95 card — the $300 credit is on top of the normal 75k, so you're looking at a four-figure first year for a sub-$100 fee. The only catch is the credit has to be spent through Capital One Travel. If the Venture X fee scares you, this is the pick.
Who it's for
People who want simple 2x on everything and a big first-year payout for under $100. Great first travel card if Chase's 5/24 rule blocks you.

How to stack it
Time the application with a big planned expense (insurance, tuition, a trip) so the spend requirement is money you'd spend anyway.
Shop through a cashback portal and the card's own offers (Chase Offers, Amex Offers, Capital One Offers) while meeting the spend — the bonus stacks on top of normal earning.
Set a calendar reminder for the end of the spend window and another before the first annual fee posts.

Common questions
How does the $300 Capital One Travel credit work?
It's a one-time credit toward bookings made through Capital One Travel in the first year, on top of the 75,000 miles. You get it when you make the eligible booking, not as a statement credit up front.
Answered by StackTheDealCan I transfer miles to airlines?
Yes. Venture miles transfer to 15+ partners, most at 1:1, including Air Canada Aeroplan, Turkish, Avianca, and Wyndham. Or redeem them at 1 cent each toward any travel charge.
Answered by StackTheDealDoes the $95 fee come off the first year?
No. Capital One charges the $95 in the first year on this card; the fee is included in the bonus math.
Answered by StackTheDealHard pulls?
Capital One typically pulls all three bureaus, so you'll see up to three inquiries.
Answered by StackTheDealCan I apply if I already have the Venture X?
Yes, if you haven't received a Venture bonus in the last 48 months. People report Capital One likes a few months between approvals.
Answered by StackTheDealIs it taxable?
No. Miles earned by meeting a spending requirement aren't income.
The easiest premium card to justify: $300 travel credit + 10,000 anniversary miles ≈ $400 back on a $395 fee, so you're holding a lounge card for about nothing.
The simplest cash-back card going: one flat rate on everything you buy, a $200 bonus for $500 of ordinary spending, and no annual fee — nothing to optimize, nothing to remember.
